Hey there Reader,
ADHD is becoming a much more common thing for adults, especially moms, to be diagnosed with. As a woman and mom, you have so much going on in your brain that it can often be very hard to focus on them, even if you haven’t been diagnosed with ADHD.
Did you know that a woman’s energy in relation to the earth’s energy is centripetal? What that means is that the energy we receive from the earth is moving upward and inward, drawing things towards us. And naturally, your family gravitates towards the person in the home with the most centripetal energy…
Yep, that’s likely you my friend, because you are the woman of the house.
The do-it-all {possibly overfunctioning…and I say that lovingly b/c I can relate}, warrior who gets things done.
But if you have ADHD, you might feel like you’re constantly spinning your wheels and either not really getting things finished or bouncing around from one project to the next without much focus, making it take two or three times as long to actually get things done. Which can be quite frustrating and might even make you feel like something is wrong with you.
If this sounds familiar, check out last week’s (and next week’s when it comes out) episode of the podcast where I interview Tracy Nolin Beerman of the Vision Driven Moms with ADHD podcast. In the first of this 2-part series, we talk:
- What ADHD is
- How to explore whether you have it or not
- How ADHD impacts your nervous system and emotional regulation
And next week Tracy shares how to use tools and practices to manage living with ADHD as a mom, so stay tuned or subscribe to the podcast so you get that episode when it goes live.
I’m not saying everyone should explore this avenue, but if you feel like I described above, you might want to take a listen.
Being diagnosed with ADHD might be the thing that gives you the peace of mind to seek out tools to support you if your life journey includes this condition. It’s not a death sentence or a diagnosis to keep you stuck and frustrated; rather, it might just be another element of self-understanding to help you on your journey to flow with your time, energy and focus and get all the things done, including time for yourself, without mom guilt even when unexpected things come up.
(And even if you don’t go the route of seeking out diagnosis, the tools Tracy offers are still pretty great and anyone can benefit from them🙂.)
Helping you find and use the rhythms around you in all you do!
Cheers,
Cathy
P.S. I was also on Tracy’s podcast, the Vision Driven Mom with ADHD podcast recently and we talk more in-depth about using your rhythms to navigate a life with ADHD. Check it out here!
