Hey there Reader, Do you dread getting old? What about blaming certain challenges or dis-eases in your life on the fact that “it sucks to get old”? β I hear this sort of thing all the time from clients and acquaintances, and my consistent response (one in which I truly do believe to be true) every time with a smile on my face, is “age is just a number.” β ClichΓ© as it may sound, I’ve said this for years and truly do believe it. β We get the choice how to view whatever comes our way, and one of the things I choose to believe is that as we age, we have the privilege of gaining experience and wisdom that can be used as long as we are living, and even beyond, to impact others. β That our thoughts and beliefs translate into how our bodies experience this world (check out this episode if you want to hear more of my take on it), and even when it feels like they are growing old and wearing out, we have the ability to make shifts and changes to make life feel lighter. β So I wonder, what would you want to know from someone who is living well and into their 100’s? β A while back I posed this question to my followers on Facebook and was pleasantly inundated with more questions than I could ever come up with on my own. And it just so happens that I have a dear friend who is 104 years old and willing to share her wisdom. β For some it’s rare to have regular conversations with adults aging into their 90’s and beyond, especially those who have a beautiful outlook on life and continue to want to contribute and learn in this world. β I want to introduce you to Christa Belknap.
Christa has been a friend of mine for a long time and has lived a beautiful life, and continues to live her life still in her own home. I recently got to sit down with her to ask her some questions and just listen and absorb. And because you might also be wondering what it’s like to live for more than a century, I recorded the conversation. β Side note: So. Many. Questions. We had to split our conversation into two separate sessions, so you’ll hear the second part of the conversation with the next episode of the podcast. β But for now, consider taking a listen to this first part. You can grab it here.β Or wherever you catch your podcasts. β Happy listening 🎧. β Cheers, Cathy β |
