Hey there Reader!
Are you familiar with the children’s book If you Give a Mouse a Cookie? It’s been one of my long-time favorites since I first encountered it as a 6th grader when we were paired up with a 1st grader and would go read to them back in the day.
If you don’t know the book, it’s about a mouse who, upon getting a cookie, asks for some milk, then after receiving the milk, asks for a straw so he can drink the milk, then a napkin, then to look in the mirror, upon which doing so makes him realize he needs a hair cut, so he asks for some nail scissors. After realizing the mess he’s made, he asks for a broom, of which he gets carried away cleaning the entire house. The story goes on like such with the mouse going down the rabbit hole of unfocused effort until at last the mouse realizes he’s thirsty and asks for a glass of milk…
…”and chances are, if he asks for a glass of milk, he’s going to want a cookie to go with it.” 🍪
There are two ways I see this resembling life sometimes.
The first deals focus…you start working on one project, just to be led to another, then another, then another and soon, you’ve forgotten what truly got you started in the first place until something leads you right back to what you originally were working on.
The next deals with clarity…you start (and maybe even finish) a project that reveals something more that could be done.
Do either of these resonate with you?
I thought so.
And I also know it’s a common problem in Phase 2 of your Energetic Rhythms Cycle. The time when all the things sound appealing and you want to go for them all. The reason this happens is because
- It’s a time when your energy is growing, and
- Your creative juices start flowing
Combine those together and it’s a recipe for unfocused, busy work.
Or for trying to tackle all the things at one time rather than being intentional about your approach.
The good news is, there’s a way to start to overcome it. And it’s all about anticipating this rise in energy, even if slightly, each month. And when you pay attention to your body’s rhythms and the moon’s cycle, you start to notice these rhythmic shifts in your life.
When you feel the shift in energy that comes after feeling an inward pull or lower emotional time, you could be moving into Phase 2 of your Energetic Rhythms Cycle. And this is what this week’s episode of Health Harmony and Happiness with Cathy is all about.
Your Energetic Rhythms show you exactly when to rest and when to take action so you don’t have to overthink life and work; yet, if you disregard even one phase of these rhythms, burnout, feeling scattered or perpetually stuck in life is bound to happen. And the second phase of your Energetic Rhythms Cycle is often where those feelings originate.
And that’s what I’m sharing in this episode:
=>What it looks and feels like in the 2nd phase of the Energetic Rhythms Cycle
=>What challenges tend to arise during this phase
=>Simple ways to overcome those challenges
Start working with your growing energy instead of letting it pull you aimlessly from one project to another without ever really feeling like you’re making real progress on the things that matter.
Because I think it’s safe to say, we’ve all felt like that little mouse in the book (or at lease the boy who’s with the mouse) at times in our lives and it can be kind of maddening.
Wouldn’t it feel so much better if you could acutally use that abundant energy on purpose?
I thought so.
Just so you know, it does 🙊.
Helping you find the rhythms in life, always!
Cheers,
Cathy
