Nov 24, 2022 | Harmony, Health, Podcast, Self-Care

I’ve rounded up some of my favorite things around the house to bring you an episode of gift ideas that you can indulge yourself or others in this holiday season!

Want to give someone else or even yourself a little more Health, Harmony and Happiness this holiday season?

Check out the gifts below and listen in for full details on why each gift brings Health, Harmony and Happiness to my life and how they could impact yours or someone you love’s life.

Happy gift giving!

Health

The gifts in this section are all related to enhancing health.

 Manduka Pro 71″ Yoga Mat

The Manduka Pro Mat is the only mat I recommend for daily use.  These mats have a lifetime guarantee and will not wear or start falling apart after a few months.  They are meant to be practiced on daily and only get better with time.  The Manduka Pro is thick enough to provide comfort for your joints, yet stable enough that it won’t be a distraction during your practice.  No need for the “extra long” version, a 26″ x 71″ mat will suit most everybody!

If you are starting or recommitting to your yoga practice with the new year or know someone who is, this is the mat to go with!

Daily Rhythms Tracker

Awareness is the first step, and when it comes to your energy, that means knowing the rhythms it has.  The Daily Rhythms Tracker helps do-it-all women on their self-understanding journey use their body’s rhythms and the moon’s cycle to finally live in flow with their time, energy and focus even when unexpected things come up.

Blue Light Blocking Glasses Adult

Block blue light that interferes with your circadian rhythm so that your brain can slow down and know when it’s tie to turn off. Blue light blocking glasses keep your brain from thinking it’s time to be awake and alert and help it continue to wind down even when you want to be in front of a screen.

If you know you are sensitive to light (for instance if the glow of your alarm clock bothers you or if you prefer blackout curtains) then these glasses will help you prepare your brain for bedtime when you prefer to watch TV or a screen before bedtime.  Enhance your ability to fall asleep by blocking the blue light that keeps your brain thinking its time to be awake and consciously active.

SEEAFUN Kids Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Help your kids keep their circadian rhythms (or sleep-wake rhythms) in check if they watch screens at night.  Blue light blocking glasses keep your brain from thinking it’s time to be awake and alert when it’s really time to wind down and sleep.

These make a great stocking stuffer and come with a cute case!

Sleeping Eye Mask

Hands down one of the best habits I’ve changed and things I’ve purchased in 2022.  I started wearing a sleeping eye mask to keep my eyes from watering because of fan we use at night, and was blown away by how much better I started sleeping because of wearing an eye mask.  It blocks any and all light and reminds your brain that even when it does wake up, it’s dark and can go back to sleep easier.

Life-Flo Magnesium Lotion

Magnesium is needed for over 300 of the body’s processes and it’s likely that many of us are living magnesium-deficient, so putting a bit of this on every night ensures those processes run a bit smoother, including digestion and having a GREAT NIGHT SLEEP!

This lotion is a gentle way to begin to incorporate magnesium into your routine.  It comes in vanilla scented or unscented and would make a great stocking stuffer.

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil Spray

Magnesium oil is a bit stronger than the lotion, yet another option if lotion isn’t your thing.  I use both the lotion and the oil depending on what we have at home at the time.  Some people prefer the lotion because the oil can create tingly sensation when applied.

Brown Noise Sound Machine

Brown noise is a low frequency sound that helps calm your brain rather than stimulate.  It’s soothing and contributes to deeper sleep and relaxation.  We’ve been using sound machines for years with ourselves and kids, and this is the one that stands out to me as my favorite.  Easy to travel with as well!

Harmony

The gifts in this section are all related feeling harmonious and in flow with the world around you.

Jean’s Apothecare

Casey Jean is a fellow yoga teacher and female small business owner.  Jean’s Apothecare offers handcrafted botanical goods and will work with you to curate gifts specifically for the receiver. They offer teas, candles, oils, body scrubs and more.  They are truly one of my favorite small businesses and will ship to anywhere in the U.S.

Edens Garden Meditation Essential Oil

One of my favorite essential oil blends; I was once given this as a gift and now like to give it to others!

Lavender, Cedarwood, Tangerine, Bergamot, Palo Santo, Patchouli, and more make this a soothing scent to uplift your mind and spirit.

Native Spirit Oracle Cards

My favorite cards to play with!  I love to bring these out for New Moon Intention-setting and Full Moon Releasing Ceremony Meditations or just for fun. Instead of using cards to tell the future or anticipate what might come in life, I prefer to use them to ponder on what might actually be happening in my life.  As prompts to help me often get a different perspective on my life.

I also like to bring these cards out at birthdays, nature walks, and other instances when connecting with universal messages feels right.

Decluttering Simplified

When you have less clutter around you, your mind feels less cluttered and you’re more likely to remain calm when chaos surrounds you.

This is the course/roadmap I have used and continue to use to  maintain our mostly decluttered house “without becoming full-blown minimalists.”  It’s an incredible guide if you feel like you have too much stuff and you feel like every time you turn around you’re asking your kids to pick up the same darn toy or group of toys.

Integrative Massage + Energy Work – Michele Williams

Just like you have physical energy on the outside of your body, you have energy that flows through you on the inside.  Bodywork like yoga and massage are some of the best ways to begin to move that energy around so that it is flowing inside of you rather than stagnant and stuck.

When the energy inside you is stagnant and stuck, it manifests as tension, digestion issues, illness, dis-ease, and much more.  Treat yourself or someone you love to a massage and/or energy session so that you begin to flow again through life.

Happiness

The gifts in this section are all things that contribute to your happiness or overall contentment in the moment.

LEDGLE Neck Light

This little light is one of my favorite purchases of 2021 (a stocking stuffer for myself), and it truly does make me happy when I can quietly sneak out of bed and sit in the quiet stillness of a dark house and read my book early in the morning…or late at night if I just want to read for 10 more minutes, that usually turns into 30 ;).  It travels easily and can be used for so much more than just reading–I use it to go out and do chores in the dark and for walks if the sun isn’t up yet or has already gone to bed.

Oh, and it’s great for looking under the fridge for that lost toy!

Tovolo Kitchen Tool

My FAVORITE kitchen tool of all time.  Seriously. It doesn’t look like much, but it brings great happiness to me when I can scrape that last bit of peanut butter or ghee out of the jar without much effort at all.  You know what I’m talking about…it can be such a pain when you get to the bottom of that jar.

But this also works great as an avocado slicer and server and to scrape plates before putting in dishwasher.  I received it as a stocking stuffer one year and now have given it to countless others because it is so useful.  Enjoy!

Danesco Mini Spatula

Another great kitchen tool.  This mini spatula is my go-to for so many things.  I even prefer it over a full size spatula for most things, including getting that last bit of whisked egg out of the bowl or measuring cup when making scrambled eggs. It’s small, compact and is just the right size.

Again, I received it as a stocking stuffer, and I’m sure the person who spends time in the kitchen in your house would love to receive it as well.  I often see these in niche kitchen stores, so if you prefer not to order, you can always check out a local business to see if they might have it.

StarPack Nylon Kitchen Kids Knife Set

These knives are great for young chefs in training. They have been in our household for a number of years, and allow my kids to help out with meal prep.  If you have picky eaters, there’s no better way to help them try new foods than to get them involved in the kitchen (or to sneak their food into meals in other ways…check this episode of the podcast to hear more about getting picky eaters to eat).

They are sharp enough to cut carrots, but protect little fingers that aren’t quite as steady in the kitchen yet.

Large Leaf Ceramic Spoon Rest, Soap Dish, Accent Piece

This ceramic leaf makes a beautiful and functional addition to any home.  I found on Etsy when searching for a birthday gift one year for a friend and fell in love.  I ended up purchasing one for myself as well as others to give to friends throughout the year because it’s such a beautiful gift. They come in a variety of colors.

All pottery from this shop – Prodigal Pottery – is handmade by women fleeing homelessness and abuse.

Mancala

Our family loves this game.  It’s simple, involves a bit of strategy (or not if younger kids are playing), and is beautiful enough to be left out on the coffee table for a pick-up game anytime.

We received it as a gift and hope that this classic game can bring someone in your life as much happiness as it is brought our family.

Kanoodle 3D

My son received this game/puzzle last year as a gift from us as we were looking for educational games that weren’t tied to a screen.  Turns out…he loves it! As well as everyone else in our family, including those not yet old enough to figure it out.  It’s a mind puzzle game that can be played anywhere and takes up very little room for traveling with.  Makes a great game to play in the car on long trips.

Little Love Jar

I was part of a joint gift last year for one of my mentors, and this jar is what we gave her. It’s a great way to bring people together to show someone how much they mean to you.  The great thing about this is that you can easily involved family and friends from all over the world to share messages with the recipient and The Little Love Jar company pulls all these messages together and puts  them in a pretty jar and sends to the recipient, who can get read the messages anytime they choose!

I must say, I was making these probably 20 years ago and never thought to turn it into a business…of course, that was before internet shopping was so big. Nonetheless, if you want to create something like this on your own, you certainly can.

1.  Pick out a container (jar, vase, box, etc) that speaks to the person you want to honor.

2.  Write or print messages, memories or affirmations on slips of paper or cardstock.

3.  Put them in the container so they look nice (The one that my husband still has sitting on his dresser is a clear rectangle vase with black stones in the bottom, then ivory strips of paper with memories and thoughts on them sticking up out of the vase. Then he (or I) can pull one out whenever and be whisked back to a lovely memory).

4.  Give to the recipient!
