Hey there Reader,

When my mom first learned that we were mouth taping on purpose in our house, her comment was “It’s not quite the same as when my kindergarten teacher taped my mouth shut when I was coloring, but that’s sure what it reminds me of.”

My response: What!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You’re kindergarten teacher actually taped your mouth shut???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

(Keep in mind my mom was in kindergarten back in the late 50’s, but it was very reminiscent of when my kindergarten teacher back in the late 80’s locked one of my classmates in the closet that all the extra toys were kept in because he wasn’t behaving and actually forgot about him…I digress, that’s a whole different story, but I’m pretty sure my classmate’s problem could have been fixed if the teacher had just put mouth tape over his mouth as well! I’ll have to tell you the rest of that story another time. What is it with Kindergarten teachers??? j/k I know Kindergarten teachers are much different these days)

Back to my mom’s story.

Indeed, her teacher had taped her mouth shut because she had been warned not to talk anymore, and, well, if you know my mom (ahem, if you know me, you probably get the idea), she indeed said something else.

So…the Scotch tape it was!

In all honesty, if the grown-ups in our lives would have actually known that mouth taping was good for our health, they may have done it more often.

My kids are learning at a young age the importance of mouth taping because breathing out of your mouth all the time actually is detrimental to your health. Ancient tribal cultures have known this for thousands of years…we just try to make everything more efficient and think that breathing through your mouth means that you get more air in so it MUST be better, because more is always better.

WRONG.

Your nose is brilliantly designed to moisten the air coming into your body and filter out all the dirt and ick that it’s not supposed to have. It also filters the volume or amount of air your taking in because more is not actually better for you. It means you could be chronically hyperventilating all the time and simply elevating your stress levels.

Something I’m guessing you don’t actually need in your life.

Because I’ve fallen in love with breathwork and how using it along side your natural rhythms can change lives like as it has mine, I’ve been using it with clients regularly in private sessions and want to be able to impact more people with it. So I’m super pumped to let you know about a new virtual class I’m going to be offering starting next week. It’s called Breathe to F.L.O.W. and it’s a 4 week (potential for it to be ongoing) class that will take you through an experience to harness the power of your breath so you can flow with the day and cultivate greater health, harmony and happiness in your life.

Whether it’s calm that you need or energy to get through the rest of the day or the start of a tough week, your breath is the tool to get you there.

Join us weekly for a 30 minute mid-day breathing break. If you can’t attend in-person, a link with the recording will be sent out following class so you can do it in your own time.

I do hope that you will consider joining me for this breathing adventure.

I know that since I started consciously using breathwork as a tool to alongside my rhythms and the rhythms around me I’m better able to focus, have less irritability when I am stressed, and feel less stress and pressure in general. So why wouldn’t I want to share that with others?

So maybe that kindergarten teacher knew a thing or two after all.

Tape on..

Cheers,

Cathy
