She hired me because she knew life would be changing in the coming year.

Within a year she would be an empty nester.

In the meantime that meant

  • Traveling to college visits and for leisure
  • Tending personal outdoor landscaping and gardening projects
  • Expanding the business she recently stepped into after a life-changing career shift.

She hired me because amidst all that, she could envision the life she wanted to create. 💭

🧳She wanted to be strong enough to lift a carry-on suitcase into the overhead compartment without asking for help or throwing her back out.

🎽She wanted to be able to keep up with the pace of following her future collegiate athlete around without getting too out of breath.

🧘‍♀️She wanted to cultivate balance in her physical body.
Which she hoped would also translate to her personal and work life so that burnout wasn’t a possibility.

Burnout was part of her previous business endeavor and she left because of that stress.
Not because she’s afraid of stress, but because her values shifted.

To expand her window of tolerance for when life starts to get heavy.

But Reader, you know why I’m telling you this?

Because it takes practice.
Guidance.
Support.

My client hadn’t been living with this intention for years.

Instead, she’d set her physical and mental health aside.

She let her work consume her and in the end, left a career feeling burned out and depleted.

Her journey back to her health started with managing stress by starting to attend yoga class regularly.

She chose to make her mental health a priority to just begin to relax a bit.

It led her to seeing the world differently.

To getting out of her own head and being able to decide that she didn’t want to be living the way she was living anymore.

And that one choice – to commit to doing things differently, then follow through with it – gave her courage she needed to make big changes.

It led her to a 180° career change.

And whilst in the process of doing so, she had an anchor to keep her grounded and steady.

It wasn’t easy, and still isn’t, but her conscious choice to step into courage made all the difference.

Courage isn’t doing things without fear, it’s doing the things that are scary even with the fear.

That’s one of the things I’ll be inviting discussion around at the Awakening into Spring Retreat in just a few weeks – having the courage to emerge.

We have just a few more spots open, and I’d love to have you there. Here is the link to register.

If the retreat isn’t for you, there are plenty of other small steps of courage you can take that are budget-friendly and invite a similar connection to self and nature. Check them out below in the “Studio Happenings” section.

I hope to see you at one of them!
