Hey Reader,
Are you feeling scattered? Do you feel like it’s been a bit hard to get back into the swing of things after the holidays?
I know I sure struggled with it…
So.
Many.
Snow. 🌨️
Days.
Or perhaps, you were going strong with the new year, but have fizzled out?
Either way, now is the time to start inviting just a little more routine back into your life. Or maybe it’s picking up a habit you set aside somewhere along the road of life.
Valentine’s Day is the benchmark by which farmers use to anticipate when things like egg production will pick back up.
This is because it is about the time that there is a noticeable difference in the amount of light we have during the day. (And just in case you don’t know much about chickens, they’re really not much different than us. They too have rhythms, including circadian and infradian rhythms that respond to light, just like us!) 🐔🥚
And since that big love holiday is right around the corner, this is your invitation to do like the chickens do and start taking advantage of the growing energy around you.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve already started to notice that the days are getting a bit longer, and perhaps that’s why it feels like the right time to begin getting back to a little more structure in life. This doesn’t mean you have to be super rigid (of course, no judgement here if that feels right to you), but it just means that perhaps you take this nudge to start mindfully inviting routine back into your life.
You see, your body naturally works best in habits and patterns and tends to create them even when you’re not trying (kinda like that habit of not giving back to yourself, but giving to everyone else… it is just a habit after all😉). And that also means that YOU likely work best or thrive when you have some sense of routine or pattern in your life. It actually means you have room for expansion and more freedom instead of restriction.
Your brain senses more freedom when it knows what to expect. It’s just one more way of nurturing your nervous system, quite frankly.
A way of removing one of the layers of underlying low-level stress in your life.
This is what I talk about the most recent episode of Health Harmony and Happiness with Cathy. I also share…
- How to know when you need to invite more routine into your life or back into your life
- Why routines, patterns and habits actually create expansion and freedom in your life
- How to balance routine with flow

After a restful break, there’s a time to rekindle routines and habits for a mindful journey through the rest of winter. You don’t have to go all in so that you just get back to the point of exhaustion and burnout, but rather, just like the day adds a little more light each day, you, too, can start easing back into activity.
Easing back into creating the plans for the year, opening yourself to the possibility of light.
After all, learning to transition through life with ease is what cultivating health, harmony and happiness is all about.
Cheers,
Cathy
P.S. I‘m super excited to be partnering with Peace Tree Brewing Company to show some love this month.
