I’m a loud talker, and it’s gotten me into trouble in the past.
But it also makes for a great attention-getting voice when you’re the clerk of course at a swim meet.
Reader, that same loud voice was a reset for another mom recently who left the house one morning needing time without all the “mom… mom… mom…” voices filling the possibility of any empty quiet space available when you have multiple young kids.
My girls and I had popped into the dollar store to pick up a card we needed for an event, and in the meantime remembered other cards we needed to pick out. While I was picking out one card, I set the girls on the task of picking out a card for their cousin’s belated birthday recognition. We were simply talking in our regular voices (in my mind not projecting too much) as I coached them in finding just the right card. Our conversation then led to whether or not to pick out a toy or something for the cousin there, upon which we decided we’d go another route.
I can’t remember exactly what was said in these conversations, but it was nothing earth-shattering. I was simply talking them through how my mind processes what the “right” card is for someone and helping them connect that with their own ideas for what their cousin might like.
We left the store feeling fulfilled and ready for the day.
But as we got into the car, I commented to the girls, “We were talking really loudly in there. It was quiet and there were actually quite a few shoppers in that little store we might have been disrupting. Next time we’re in a store let’s talk a bit quieter.”
But in the coming days I received a message from one of those shoppers.
She’s a mom whom I’ve had the pleasure of teaching yoga to along with her kiddo, and her message was this…
“I love the way you talk with your girls. I could overhear you guys when you were picking cards and I couldn’t help but smile…”
She went on to tell me…
“I took the day to go shopping by myself because I just needed a break from the kids at home, but every store I went to, I was reminded of them and how lucky I was to have them. It was the reset and reminder I needed!”
Sometimes the little things we do by nature (and that may even be a thorn in our side at times) are the resets others need to reconnect with themselves or their family in some way.
And sometimes we think we need one reset, but the real reset is hidden within the one we think we need.
If you’re the kind of person who moves through life full of energy, ideas, and care for others…
…but don’t always give yourself the same space and attention, you’re not alone.
That’s exactly why I created Res{e}t to Reconnect.
It offers short, simple, daily invitations to help you come back to yourself, so you can show up with more calm and connection for the people who matter most.
You might not even realize how much your presence matters to them, because you’re so busy moving to the next thing.
If you’re ready to slow down just enough to notice what’s already speaking to you—and what wants to shift, Res{e}t to Reconnect is a private coaching journey to help you do just that. It’s not about losing your spark. It’s about grounding it so you can keep showing up with clarity, calm, and deep connection.
Just hit reply or send me a message here, we’ll set up a time to chat.
Because this IS your time, your time for change.
Cheers,
P.S. When you reach out I’ll ask you a few questions so I can know more about you, then I’ll give you all the details and an invitation if you’d be a fit. It’s that simple!
I forgive myself and others for errors of the past.
