Hi Reader,

Scout had a loose tooth the other night and didn’t want to go to bed with it as loose as it was for fear she might swallow it.

Yet every time she tried to pull it up and out, it was extremely painful.

At the same time that she wanted the tooth to come out, she also wanted to give up.

I comforted her when she needed a break from working on it and told her a story of a time when I, too, felt pain, but knew I had to move through it because on the other side was the beautiful little girl sitting right next to me.

We snuggled and she got the courage up to head back to the mirror and wiggle some more.

As she did, she realized she could tilt the tooth completely forward with no pain and let it stick straight out of her mouth on its own. To this she made some funny “scary” faces and said “it just wants to hang on and not let go.”

She’s right, sometimes the things in life that we want to let go of “just want to hang on.”

And sometimes it’s painful and messy to let go of things that have been a part of ourselves for a long time, as was the case with the tooth’s bloody tissues sitting next to Scout.

But for everything there is a season – and Fall is the time of letting go. 🍂

It’s the time to discern what needs to stay and what needs to leave our lives.

The energy of Fall speaks to clarity so that we can make space for what’s to come in the future.

Letting go isn’t a passive action, it takes

  1. Choice
  2. Being a willing participant in the surrender of whatever it is that needs to be let go of
  3. And action to make it happen.

That tooth came out without pain, but only when she pulled it straight out in front, instead of up.

You may have to get creative with what will work to fully let go of the stubborn things that want to hold on – like Scout’s tooth 🦷- but in the end, you’ll be left with a hole that is ready to be filled with something even better.

What’s one habit that you are ready to say “no” to in this season of letting go?

Write me back and let me be a part of your journey – I’d love to cheer you on and support you in whatever way I can.

Cheers,

Cathy

What’s Cultivating Health Harmony Happiness in My Life…

From what I thought was going to be a simple scent creation experiment with my peonies in the spring turned into a new anchor for the seasonal Rhythms Retreats. This Fall I created not one, but TWO body/room/linen sprays to ground and center as we move through this harvest season. I must say, these scents are quickly becoming my favorites.

I’ve still got some in the studio for those who are local, and I’m willing to ship if you live at a distance. Simply reply back to this email and I’ll set some aside for you or get them in the mail. Would love to share these grounding scents with you.
