Hey there Reader,
When you hear the word “spiritual,” what do you think of? Seriously, first thought that comes to mind for you?

If your mind immediately goes to Christianity, Judaism, monks chanting on a mountainside, or The Buddha, I’m going to stop you right there.
And I’m going to ask you to think bigger. To zoom out. To really consider what the word spiritual means.
It’s made up of the word “spirit.” So what is your spirit? How would you define it?
I believe it’s the animated external essence of who you are. It’s the energetic presence of who you are in the world and that you are able to use as an expression of God’s creation. And whether you believe in the God I believe in or not, you were indeed created by something far bigger than you, and whatever that was, also gave you a spiritual energetic presence.
So why do you need to know this?
Well, because if you avoid connecting with your spirit, quite frankly, you’re going to be unhappy in life. You’re going to be living in constant discomfort and not putting your best self out there in the world. And this impacts not only you, but ALLLLLLLL those people you come in contact with throughout your lifetime.
Hear me, I do value moving towards discomfort because I believe it’s how we grow, but I’m talking about living in the constant state of grumpiness or anxiety or anger or sadness.
And forever residing in those states is the opposite of the work we do around here. (You’re a smart cookie though; you’ve likely already figured that out.)
I’ll put is this way: Connecting with yourself through spiritual practices elevates you to be a better person in this world. Even if the journey to be that better person is uncomfortable along the way.
So where does religion fit in?
Glad you asked.
It can be a spiritual practice, but it’s not the whole thing. Part of the whole. And I’m telling more about all of this in this week’s episode of the podcast.
Plus, I share some of the spiritual practices I use or have used in the past to help get your mind going on how you can become more intentional in changing your presence in the world.
And I want to know, what are some of the things you use as spiritual practices? Write me back and share, I’d love to add to my list.
In the meantime, helping you find the rhythms in all you do!
Cheers,
Cathy
