Hey Reader,

There’s something I’ve been noticing beneath the surface lately that feels worth pausing for.

Every time I open up social media to post something, I’m met with (as I’m sure you are too) the divisiveness and negativity that is alive and well in the U.S. right now.

It pings a sense of guilt within me for posting anything other than addressing the hurt that the world is experiencing. That posting anything else is selfish or uncompassionate or so inconsequential that it couldn’t possibly matter whether it’s shared or not.

There’s also a part of me that momentarily thinks “I’m only one person. My voice isn’t loud enough to make any change.”

Then there’s the part of me that feels the internal struggle to let my voice be heard because I don’t feel knowledgeable enough to back my thoughts and beliefs with anything more than the moral truth of humanity and love.

And the part that feels like I can’t let my voice be heard because it is so vastly different from most of the community my family’s primary income comes from. And that if I do, I put my husband in a tough spot with his career.

But I post anyway.

I share because of those reasons.
I keep coming back to the possibility that there might be another way.
A way through the mess of negativity.
A way to notice what’s happening within ourselves…
… the inner turmoil so many are feeling.

I’ve noticed how my own nervous system reacts, even to well-intentioned posts.

It can end up creating more division even when that wasn’t the intended outcome.

So when I share content that offers opportunities to come back to self and reconnect with noticing what’s happening within that body of yours, it’s not that I don’t care about the massive s***-show our country is in right now, it’s that I choose a different way.

I’ve been known to be an opinionated person. I’m learning to temper that with compassion and witnessing as an act of care for my nervous system.

I want to be a voice that invites others to do the same.

To invite curiosity through exploring the pause and what under the surface feels like in your own body.
To discover how presence creates safety for your nervous system.
To learn to trust your body’s wisdom over the noise that fills your feed.

This is what I hold space for in class, at retreats and workshops, and in private sessions.

All these feelings I’m experiencing when I open my social media feed, you may be feeling too. Pausing to notice them is what has the potential to reconnect you to the humanity of us all.

Cheers,
