Hey Reader,
Let’s have a conversation… ME: Hi, I’m Cathy (with a C😉). I like to say I’m naturally-caffeinated with a fiery spirit. YOU: “Hm, interesting…what do you mean by that?” ME: Well, it means I have the natural tendency to go 💯mph 💯% of the time… …and I get overstimulated easily. And if I’m honest, it also means I have a bit of a quick temper. 😬
YOU: “Hmm, but you teach and practice yoga, breath work, meditation, life coaching…aren’t you supposed to be super chilled out and “zen”?” ME: Well, that’s WHY I do all of those things. I absolutely have this sense of deep calm within me, just like you do, but I learned quickly in life to gravitate towards the more excitable side because it was easier for me. It was more comfortable. The practices I do are not so much about the physical attributes, like more mobility and strength or slower breath rate and heart rate. Those are nice, but it’s about the fact that when I do the practices, I’m less likely to fly off the handle or overreact to something that my fiery self might think is a big deal. But in all reality “Calm Cathy” sees it a different way… Instead I align more with the centered, calm parts of me more easily and regularly than the fiery, overstimulated parts.
YOU: “Fascinating. I wish I could do that. I’m so tired of feeling like the world is moving so quickly and I can’t stop the tornado that’s spinning around me without getting swept up into it.” ME: Ahh, yes, I used to know the feeling well. And the good news is you can change. But it takes commitment to adding bits of slowing down into your life. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but instead with small things over time. For me, I dove into yoga and committed to it daily for my mental health because that’s what was in front of me at the time. But I might invite you to just start smaller… perhaps with just one little habit you can adopt that takes less than 5 minutes a day. Does that sound do-able?
YOU: “Heck yeah! What do I need to know?” ME: Well, I have a little free resource I’ve created called the Reset Your Rhythm: 4 Simple Steps to Recharge and Respond Breath Work Bookmark and it’s 4 super simple practices to take you from reacting to responding in an instant.
You can grab it here, and you’ll be on your way to your own zenned out chill living in no time. And if you know of anyone else who might need this in their life, please pass the link on… it’s time to help all those naturally (or artificially)-caffeinated people out there feel safety in embracing their inner calm instead of overreacting so much to life.😉🙏
Cheers,
Cathy
