Hey Reader!
When you think of “unconditional love” what do you think about?
You might think of the way a parent loves a child. Or the way a pet loves an owner.
I would guess, you don’t usually think about this when talking about your acquaintances, strangers on the street or even yourself.
Unconditional love means you love without condition. Without saying “I love you, but only when you fit inside this box of expectations I’ve created.”
You love without qualifying it with any sort of stipulations and with full forgiveness when mistakes are made.
You might think you can do this for others already, and I could be wrong, but I think we can’t truly do this for others until we know how to do it for ourselves.
And I’ve come to learn over the years, that loving yourself unconditionally is a little trickier than you might think. You have to forive and love all parts of yourself, even the ones that you’d rather hide away and not remember are a part of you. Yoga helps you begin to get there by opening up the awareness of the uncomfortable parts, but it takes practice and courage to continue to do the work off your mat to truly love yourself.
And that’s what I’m talking about in today’s podcast episode.

I sat down on Valentine’s Day to just do some journaling, and the result is what turned out to be today’s episode. I thought it fitting for this week of “love”❤️, and I hope it gives you a different way to consider this idea of “unconditional love.”
