Hey Reader,

I recently got back from an Americana family trip (or vacation…whatever you’d like to call it 😉) that consisted of driving from Iowa to South Dakota and Wyoming and back and seeing a whole host of national parks and monuments along the way. It was truly a blast.

AND, I found myself doing 2 things that I’m not crazy about:

  1. Reverting back to living the work/produce and soft of rest phases only of my energetic rhythms.
  2. Avoiding myself because I was living in this way, and encountering myself seemed too exhausting with all the other things that were going on.

SHOCKING, I know!

Yes, this sort of thing even happens to me. And I’m telling you about it, because I want you know to it’s OK when you have these moments or seasons as well.

And because I made the choice (consciously or unconsciously) to do those 2 things above, it took me a full week to recover from this trip. And when I finally had recovered, I felt as though I could move through the last phase of the Energetic Rhythms Cycle. The phase where you wrap-up, reflect and celebrate the ending of something.

I was caught in the 2 outcomes that most often come when you don’t honor all 4 phases of your Energetic Rhythms–burnout and being stuck. And until I fully recovered (aka rested) and took action to wrap up the trip and celebrate it (by sharing pictures of the trip with family and friends and sharing my observations in my community), I would never have completed the cycle, which could have led to a whole host of other issues.

You might recognize this sort of thing happening to you at times, but not really know what the reasons are for feeling this way. You’re not alone. And it’s OK.

If you want to hear more about my experience, check it out here.

But otherwise, just know that we all have those moments…or seasons. And it is possible to get through it.

XOXO,

Cathy
