Hey Reader,
You know when you get back from a trip or vacation that is supposed to be fun and relaxing and you simply feel like all you want to do is actually take a vacation from being on vacation? It’s like you were so excited to do all the things and took so much time to prep everything at home to get ready to go on vacation, then had a blast doing all the things (or maybe not…sometimes vacations go wrong, right?!), got home and realized there was still work to be done at home, things to unpack, laundry to do, kids to feed, and BOOM!
Exhaustion.
Feeling the need for a vacation from your vacation just to reset so that you can actually feel refreshed and renewed before you head back to work.
This recently happened to me. And it actually took me almost 10 days to recover from our trip, rather than feeling like I was ready to jump right back in to the rhythms of life when we returned.
And I learned a lot from it so it doesn’t happen again.
The lessons I learned could help you when planning your next trip/vacation so you can continue to be your awesome action-taking self, and get all the benefits of your vacation without burning out.
I talk about it in this week’s episode of Health Harmony and Happiness with Cathy.
Whether your trip is intended to be completely relaxing with nothing more to do than sit by a body of water or in nature, or it’s filled with planned excursions, it’s still necessary to honor your 4 phases of your energetic rhythms for the trip as a whole and for each day you are traveling, just like in every-day life. And by doing so, you complete an energetic rhythms cycle, are more compassionate with your approach to life so that you move out of a place of feeling stuck or chaotic and into a place of focus, balance and optimal productivity.
And when you do this, you aren’t left feeling like you do all too often in life…too exhausted to do much of anything. And we absolutely don’t want that–you’ve got too many goals and people relying on you to be that exhausted after something that’s supposed to re-energize you!
Cheers,
Cathy
